Guinness Nigeria Plc said there has been appointed Grainne Wafer as a non-executive director for its board effective from January 25.
The new appointee is currently the Global Brand Director of Diageo, Guinness and Malta Guinness, and has a reputation for strategic interventions that lead to good performance results.
“He brings to the Board extensive marketing experience having held leadership roles in Commercial, Innovation and Marketing functions in the business of Diageo,” the Guinness Board said in a statement seen by PREMIUM TIMES and posted on the Nigerian Exchange Limited website.
“The Board is optimistic that Mrs. Wafer’s experience and passion for inclusion and diversity will greatly benefit the Company by improving performance and sustainable business growth.”
The document also announced the departure of Mark Sandys, whose role Mrs Wafer filled. Mr Sandys joined the board of Guinness on 30 August 2017, and he was a member of the company’s nomination, governance and remuneration committee until his exit.
“The Board of Guinness Nigeria Plc is pleased to express its appreciation to Mr. Mark Sandys for his innovative contribution, strong strategic drive and commitment to the success of the Company and wishes him well after taking up his new role at Diageo,” Guinness said. .
