The Arewa Youth Coalition for Zero Corruption has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other security agencies to shine a spotlight on 52 government ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) classified on the high corruption risk list (HCR) by independent corruption practices and commissions other violations (ICPC).
The National Coordinator of the group, Mallam Aliyu Bello Mohammed in a statement in Abuja noted that despite the anti-corruption stance of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration, the affected MDAs failed to respond to the Ethics and Integrity (EICS) questions submitted. by ICPC in 2022 aimed at hiding unethical practices.
The group said it is imperative for the EFCC and other security agencies to take immediate action and sanction organizations that are ranked very low in the Integrity Report to deter others.
While commending the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government and the ICPC which reviewed the performance of MDAs, the group stressed that agencies that failed to comply with the Ethics and Integrity of Inquiry and those that performed well in key performance indicators like the Nigeria Police Force (NPF). ) must be enforced, using all available legal instruments to enforce compliance.
The group commended the MDAs for performing well in the 2022 ICPC Integrity Report 2022 despite challenges and disruptions from within and outside the organization.
He added: “We expect that agencies such as the National Research Institute for Chemical Technology (NARICT), the Ministry of Education and the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) will be prosecuted because of the many battles we are having with the host community and stakeholders from within and outside, but most surprisingly, they passed the ICPC integrity test with outstanding results.
“As ambassadors of transparency, we call on other agencies, parastatals and ministries that have failed the integrity test or did not respond to the inquiry for fear of prosecution to emulate and follow the template to fight corruption.
“They should be selected and appointed as transparent consultants so that they can share their secrets and strategies with other organizations.”
