“It was an emotional time for my career.” These were the first words out of Bradley Grobler’s mouth after reaching the milestone of 100 goals in all Premier Soccer League appearances.
The SuperSport United striker scored on Friday night to help Matsatsantsa A Pitori beat Maritzburg United 2-0 at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.
But for a moment, it looked like Grobler would have to wait a while for his century goal as he stepped up to take a penalty which was saved by Maritzburg goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner. Fortunately, the rebound went straight to him and he made sure of it twice.

“It’s been my dream since childhood, I’ve always wanted to score goals and I never thought I’d do it at the highest level of South African football, in a league where it’s not easy to score. to be included among the few names I see as an honor and a privilege, Grobler said.
“If you look at the list of goalscorers in a game then you see a P next to their name… I don’t like the P for penalties. It’s just one of those things, I hit it well and the goalkeeper made a good save, but the football gods were with me and the ball returned to me. When I saw him coming back to me, I knew he had to go in,” she said.
Willingness to score more
Grobler is in his 11th season with Matsatsantsa A Pitori and he is already the club’s top scorer. However, he feels he could have done more had it not been for injuries throughout his career. Grobler also believes he can add to his tally as he hopes to beat the record of 123 goals set by Siyabonga Nomvethe.
“I still want to continue playing as long as I can and I feel very good. It’s something I really want to go for. Thinking about all the seasons I missed, I had five different operations. It could have been more and I think I still have a lot to offer, Grobler said.
“Your age doesn’t mean you age fast, but you get older in months and for me, I’ve played 20 league games out of 21, none through Covid. When I was young, I couldn’t pass 20 games for a season and I’m done,” added Grobler.
