The Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) said Saturday’s power outage was caused by a bush fire on a high voltage line near Tarkwa.
In a statement, the power transmission company said: “The outage occurred after GRIDCo’s 330kV Aboadze – Anwomaso line tripped followed by several lines in the western corridor of the grid which caused a system disruption causing all thermal plants and Bui generators and customer loads to trip.”
Meanwhile, restoration of the grid began immediately and efforts are being made to restore power to all affected areas and customers.
Meanwhile, the company has apologized for the inconvenience caused.
