Governor Badaru decries scarcity of naira notes in Jigawa, charges CBN to act

Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State has expressed concern over the hardships people are facing as a result of the lack of new Naira notes in the state.

This was contained in a press statement issued on Thursday by the governor’s special adviser on media and public relations, Habibu Nuhu Kila.

According to the statement, the governor was worried about the long queues at banks across the country.

He said the development has almost killed economic activities in the country.

Mr. Badaru said the policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has failed to recognize local communities in its implementation and therefore called on the apex bank to immediately take all necessary steps to provide adequate new notes to commercial banks in the country.

Governor Badaru said he was aware of the hardships faced by the people and appealed for more patience as the state government would do everything to alleviate the situation.
