Government Reform Is Possible. However, The MAGA Republicans Are Steeped In Lies, Greed, And Conspiracy Theories And Are Blocking Progress. The Roadmap To A Corruption-Free Government Must Include: Discarding the Electoral College, Banning Corporate Donations And Any Form OF Dark Money From Politics, Ending Lifetime Appointments Of Federal And Supreme Court Judges, Eliminating Minority And Majority Leadership Positions In Congress, Allowing For Presidents To Be Indicted, And Developing An Independent Ethics Board To Monitor The Behaviors Of Supreme Court Justices. – Baby Boomer Resistance: A Pro Democracy Blog

When Americans elect a president, they choose an elector appointed by their country. Individual votes count toward the popular vote, but the popular vote does not elect the president. The existence of the electoral college reduces the accuracy of calling America a true democracy. How the country’s voters choose their president. The popular vote represents who the majority of the people want to be president. The Founding Fathers created the Electoral College to give what they believed was an equal vote to less populated states. However, the result has been a reduction in the power of the individual vote in more populous countries. In a democracy, whoever wins the popular vote is “We The People” who wants to be president.
Senator Sheldon Whitehouse -(D) has led an investigation into how dark money and super pac donations fueled corrupt practices in Congress. “Dark money” is money donated to non-profit organizations that use donations to fund political campaigns without disclosing the identity of the donor. “Super Pacs” are open to donors, but there are no limits on the amount of money that can be donated to a particular party or campaign. Candidates are influenced and controlled to vote by alliances with special interest groups whose money helps them vote. The only way to eliminate the disturbing influence that money puts into politics is to limit the size of donations and regulate full transparency.
The current makeup of the Supreme Court is proof that reform is needed to combat corruption, arrogance, and hyperpartisanship. There is no logical reason for Judges to be infallible. It is an honor to serve on the Supreme Court. That honor must be respected by judges by acting with integrity, transparency, and non-partisanship. The online site THINK (NBC) July 15, 2022 said, “There is no doubt that political parties are increasingly using the nomination and confirmation process to consolidate power and control the composition of the judiciary to further ensure that laws will be formed to advance their political agendas. Forty-nine states impose restrictions on judicial service, such as reducing tenure or setting mandatory retirement ages. Federal judges should not exceed their oversight and responsibility.

A survey of 701 alumni judges was conducted in 2020 by the National Judicial College and 60% of judges opposed lifetime judicial appointments. The results of the survey concluded the negative aspects that lead to lifetime appointments are; “Absolute power corruption, old or disabled judges stay on the bench too long, and remove responsibility.”

An anonymous judge who participated in the 2020 survey said, “The overt partisanship of the confirmation process affects the independence and integrity of the judiciary.” Decades of Justice Clarence Thomas’s corrupt behavior, the mysterious payment of Brett Kavanaugh’s debt, and suspicions about Justice Alito’s leaked Dobbs decision all show the need for an ethical board to establish standards for the Court. Additionally, Trump appointees Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney-Barrett are right-wing Christian conservatives who do not reflect where the majority of Americans stand on abortion, gun reform, federal protections for the poor, the disabled, and legal immigration. . Generational change and the diversification of the American population must be considered when selecting judges. However, the current operation of the Supreme Court can appoint judges who have no connection with the general population and align with the ideology of a political party.

If the President is not a king, and no one is above the law in America, why is there a DOJ policy that the president cannot be arrested while in office? The policy is a contradiction. A president who breaks the law is a criminal. This policy makes the American government a fool. It contradicts the laws of the Constitution and US values. Exceeding the criminal president’s term in official years is an attack on public safety and national security.

They changed certain aspects of how the people elect our government. Democracy does not have to include the ideology of Donald Trump and the politics of MAGA. Remember, the origins of “Make America Great Again” have Ku Klux Klan members, Hitler sympathizers, and supporters of white nationalism. No elected official should be arrested, and they should not talk long enough for justice to be served.
