Donald Trump “didn’t do a good enough job” of making the case for a second term, and that’s why he lost, Georgia Republican Governor Brian Kemp told Politico in an interview published Friday.
Kemp is the second prominent Republican in as many days to warn Americans that Trump has lost re-election, but is still seeking GOP support for another attempt at the presidency.
“He disappeared quickly,” Ryan said. “He’s a proven man who cost the House in ’18, he cost the White House in ’20, he cost the Senate again, and we all know that.”
Kemp told Politico that Trump lost re-election because he failed to tell people “what he’s done and what he wants to do in his second term.”
Perhaps thinking of Trump, he told a group of conservatives recently that Republicans can’t just fight Democrats, “We have to.” for something,” Politico said.
Kemp resisted pressure from Trump to undermine Georgia’s vote for Joe Biden in the presidential election. Trump returned them by endorsing Kemp’s primary re-election rival, David Perdue, who lost, as did Democrat Stacy Abrams in the gubernatorial race against Kemp.
