Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River has approved January 26 and January 27 as non-working days in the state to enable civil servants and the general public to collect their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs).
This was contained in a statement issued by Mr. Eric Anderson, Commissioner for Information and Orientation, on Friday, in Calabar.
Ayade said the days without work were necessary to enable the citizens of the country to fully participate in the 2023 general elections scheduled for February 25 and March 11.
According to the governor, civil servants and the public in the State are advised to take advantage of the day without work to get PVCs in preparation to make votes count in the Election.
“The government wants to inform for the benefit of the people, even if they are not working, the members of the public should use their days to take PVC and not just sit at home.
“It is important that members of the public ask for PVCs in preparation to make their votes count in the next election.
“Your PVC is the way to achieve credible elections, get it now,” the governor said.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the continued collection of PVCs in the nation is scheduled to end on January 29.
