GOP Rep. Andy Biggs Receives Embarrassing Jan. 6 Fact-Check Live On Air

C-SPAN anchor Greta Brawner fact-checked far-right Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) during a viewer call-in on Friday.

During the “Washington Journal” program, one of the callers told Biggs about his anger about former President Donald Trump’s willingness to “pardon the traitors who have been convicted of sedition conspiracy” for the deadly US Capitol riots on January 6, 2021.

“Come on. What is wrong with you Republicans?” he asked Biggs.

Biggs, who helped organize the “Stop the Steal” rally that preceded the riots, falsely claimed no one was guilty of incitement.

“Not everyone is guilty of treason. In fact, none! So it’s important to understand,” he said. And I think that’s important to know as well. So, thanks for the call. “

After a second call, Brawner returned to Biggs’ first answer and said: “Congressman, USA Today had this headline in November 2022 that Stewart Rhodes, the founder of the Oath Keepers, was convicted of seditious conspiracy.”

“Oh, okay,” Biggs replied. “Well, I’m not following the case.”

More than 1,000 people have now been charged in connection with the violence.

Rhodes and Kelly Meggs, who ran the Florida chapter of the far-right group, were found guilty of seditious conspiracy charges, which carries a sentence of up to 20 years behind bars.
