The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) won the presidential election in the Gombe State Governor Muhammad Yahaya’s polling unit.
When the results were announced, voters in the unit shouted the name of Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate who got 215 votes to win the unit. Mr. Yahaya’s APC candidate, Bola Tinubu, got 186 votes in the unit.
Announcing the results, Micheal Thomas, the Presiding Officer (PO) of the Yahaya Umar 010 Polling Unit, located at the Government Science Secondary School Gombe, announced that the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) polled 10 votes while the Labor Party (LP). ) got four votes.
Mr Thomas said the Action Democratic Party (ADP) got three votes while the Action Alliance (AA) had one vote.
Earlier, Governor Yahaya, shortly after his election, thanked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for what he called “good initiatives” introduced in the 2023 general election, a reference to technology such as BVAS machines.
He also said that he was happy with the way the elections were conducted in the country.
“Now, it’s great. I don’t hear any complaints from anyone; expect small challenges, and we’re all human,” said Mr. Yahaya. “I am asking INEC to be more innovative in the future to make things easier.”
