GMet urges the public to plan according to the weather forecast

The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) urges the public to use weather forecasts periodically to plan activities safely and conveniently.
Paying attention to daily weather forecasts will help people prepare for routine events, the Agency said.
Joshua Asamoah, a Senior Meteorologist at GMet, who gave the advice in an interview with the Ghana News Agency said that monitoring daily weather reports can save lives and property, especially when there are heavy rains that often lead to floods.
“Ideally, before people go to work, they should comply with our updates. In addition to daily updates, we provide long-term forecasts to serve categories of people like farmers and field workers,” he said.
Asamoah announced that GMet is working within the hour to release its 2023 seasonal forecast which will include major and minor monsoons next week.
The first forecast says it will cover the southern part of the country from March to May.
The Senior Scientist said the forecast for the northern belt will be released after the southern one to help farmers plan the season.
When asked about the significance of heavy rains on March 7, 2023, he said it was a sign of the beginning of this year’s rainy season.
He called on the public and the city authorities to release the drains to facilitate the flow of water when the rains begin.
“We need to know that floods are always coming to us and we need to be prepared, especially in Greater Accra. This is because there are many and areas where water is present. This is an indication to prepare.
