BOCAUE – The Philippine Basketball Association recorded a new crowd record on Sunday, as 54,589 spectators came to witness the climax of the Commissioner’s Cup championship series featuring Barangay Ginebra and visiting Bay Area at the Philippine Arena here.
The gate attendance broke the league’s old record set on October 27, 2017, where 54,086 watched the Gin Kings crush the Dragons, 114-99, in Game 7.

Interestingly, the game also features Gin Kings. The Beloved finished off Meralco in seven games to win the Governor’s Cup.
The game is also played in this cavernous arena.
The new PBA record should feel doubly so for Asia’s pioneering pro league, which has suffered the lingering effects of the coronavirus pandemic, the digital age, and a lack of talent from the collegiate ranks.
