Dr. Michael Agyekum Addo, the founder of the Kama Group of Companies, has expressed great concern about the attitude and work ethic of Ghanaian employees in an exclusive interview with Abeiku Santana on Okay FM “Safe Road” drive time.
According to successful entrepreneurs with extensive business experience, the behavior of Ghanaian employees at work, especially when it comes to fellow Ghanaians, is appalling and a major disincentive to doing business in Ghana.
Dr. Michael Agyekum Addo told Abeiku Santana how some of his own employees treat his company and how they do their jobs so disrespectfully that Kama Group cooperates with foreign companies run by white people.
“When it’s 8:00 and I see my employees who report to work at 8:20 and will signal that they come at 8, but now the white man is the boss because the white man is the biggest shareholder, so open the company now, time here they (employees) are walking from 5 to 8:00 because the ownership and management of the company has been changed and placed in the hands of white people. who are handled by foreigners more than themselves”, he was sad.
He believes that Ghanaian workers appreciate foreign business because foreign employers are strict.
“They are strict. They will dismiss you now. But, with Ghanaians, when you throw workers, they will bring Chiefs, Pastors, relatives, members of your church to ask for you” but “if you leave. work for Ghanaians who think they are relatives family or you are from the same hometown, so they will destroy your business.”
When asked why some Ghanaian businesses are not growing well, the pharmaceutical pioneer said it was because of lack of discipline, jealousy and envy from fellow Ghanaians.
“From my experience and knowledge, there are many employees who have failed in their business. That’s why I will advise young people to be selfless, open-minded and willing to work sincerely. The company or business mainly depends on me, so now I will bluff the owner or founder or the CEO. I see there is jealousy and envy that the company belongs to a Ghanaian.”
He asked for a change in attitude towards work.
