
Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson stated this on the floor of parliament during the debate on the State of the Nation address on Friday.
He said the process will only begin when China agrees to provide debt financing guarantees to Ghana.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo recently expressed optimism that the government is systematically meeting the terms of the staff-level agreement with the IMF and is confident of securing a deal by the end of March.
“I am confident that with the cooperation received from the members of the Paris Club and the People’s Republic of China, who have sent a delegation from the Exim Bank of China to Accra at the weekend, to meet with officials of the Ministry of Finance, we will be able to go to the fund board to finalize the agreement by the end of March, “ said.
But a minority believes that Ghana will not reach an agreement with the IMF by the end of March.
