Ghana 1-0 Angola: Black Stars players rated

Antoine Semenyo scored a stoppage-time rebound to hand the Black Stars all three points at the Baba Yara Stadium in their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Angola.

Despite seeing a lot of the ball throughout the 90 minutes, the Black Stars failed to create enough chances.

However, the most important moment came when the team capitalized on a well-taken free kick by the Angolan goalkeeper, and Semenyo had no choice but to strike from close range.

Here’s how the Black Star is rated.

Lawrence says Zigi-6: It was no problem because of the dismal display from the Angolan striker. Kept the backline in shape throughout.

Denis Odoi -6: Linking play with Jordan Ayew and Joseph Paintsil coming on in the second half was excellent but could have done more with crosses.

Alexander Djiku-6: Patnered well with Amartey until he limped off with an injury in the dying embers of the game. Forward passes are usually not enough in this game.

Daniel Amartey-6: Keep calm and help drive away some dangerous Angolans

Gideon Mensah-5: Didn’t do much to counter attacks from the left but did well to keep the area safe despite a shaky start.

Edmund Addo-5: Protected the back line well which helps Partey take risks in attack. Could be better with passe.

Thomas Partey-7: The idea of attacking is great, but the excellent forward passes are not happening because of ineffective strikers.

Holy Mohammed-6: It doesn’t give much to be known. However, the sense of urgency in the attack was palpable.

Jordan Ayew-5: Win more offense for the team that can produce better scores. He could have been better with the cross.

Kamaldeen Sulemana-6: Made a bold attack in the first half that didn’t end well. Decision making could be better.

Williams Ink 3: Despite his determination to get the first goal, his effort was well checked by the opposition defence.

Substitute

Antoine Semenyo-6: Do what’s most important for your team by scoring the championship.

Joseph Paintsil-4: Making an immediate impact by bravely taking markers, one of which resulted in a foul that resulted in a goal.

Salis Abdul Samed-3: Filled Edmund Addo’s void perfectly and made the right decisions by helping to maintain possession with short passes.

Osman Bukari-3: Continued from where Sulemana left and almost got a goal
