GFA thanks Sunon Asogli for backing Elite U15 Girls Championship

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has expressed its appreciation to Sunon Asogli Power Ghana Limited for supporting the 2026 Elite U15 Girls Championship, a competition aimed at developing the next generation of female footballers in the country.

The Association said the sponsorship reflects the growing importance of partnerships in strengthening grassroots women’s football and expanding opportunities for young players.

The Elite U15 Girls Championship forms part of the GFA’s long-term player development strategy and complements the FIFA-supported U15 Girls Regional Colts League, which is being implemented across all football regions in Ghana.

The tournament will bring together talented players from GFA academies and regional development centres, providing opportunities for talent identification, technical development, education, safeguarding and long-term player growth.

Speaking on the partnership, GFA General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo said corporate support remains essential to the development of girls’ football.

“The development of girls football requires collective investment and long-term commitment from all stakeholders. Support from institutions such as Sunon Asogli Power Ghana Limited plays an important role in helping us create opportunities and structured pathways for young girls to develop through football,” he said.

The GFA reaffirmed its commitment to creating clear pathways for young players to progress into elite academies, Women’s Premier League clubs and the national teams.

The Association also acknowledged the increasing contribution of corporate organisations to women’s football, noting that continued investment in the women’s game helps promote talent development, leadership and social inclusion across Ghana.
