
Voters Rep.-elect George Santos’ (RN.Y.) told CNN Eva McKend that they felt “completely betrayed” by the Republicans and weighed in the litany of lies last week. (You can watch the voters weigh in on Santos in the clip below).
Santos, who reportedly faces at least two investigations, has been attacked for falsehoods and some inconsistencies in the details he shared about his background, such as his education, his relationship with Holocaust survivors, the date of his mother’s death, and his work history. .
Teodora Choolfaian, a Santos voter, told McKend that she felt “betrayed” and did not support the candidate because of the controversy.
“George Santos is a fraud,” said Choolfaian, who went to a rally attended by Santos’ former opponent, Robert Zimmerman, on Thursday.
“The whole persona he’s created, his ability to deceive us, is disturbing. This man should not be put in office. And we all know it. I want to assure you Republicans know it too.
Jewish community leader Jack Mandel, who previously met with Santos and considers him a fresh face for the Republican Party, said he would vote “absolutely no” for Santos if the election is tomorrow.
“The Holocaust is something that touches the heart of every Jew and people who use it as a talking point, as a rallying point, I think. [it] incorrect.”
One Santos supporter told McKend, however, that the Republican did not make any legal mistakes.
“He admitted that he lied, and most Christians believe in forgiveness. Maybe don’t forget but move on. Let’s see what happens,” said Tom Zmich.
