
Of all the chaos surrounding Rep. George Santos (RN.Y.) today, apparently he is not happy with his portrayal on late night television.
In multiple investigations for lying about his background to get elected, the New York Republican on Monday. directing attention the comedians who have, predictably, gone to town with wild scandals that just always give.
“Now I’m enshrined in late night TV history with all these impersonations, but everything has been TERRIBLE so far,” tweeted Santos. “Jon Lovitz is supposed to be one of the best comedians of all time and that’s a shame – for him not me! This comedian needs to step up his game.”
Since the election, Santos has been caught out through a long list of falsehoods about his life, including misrepresenting his mother’s death, saying his ancestors fled the Holocaust, lying about attending college and pretending to have Jewish heritage. To add to the mess, he’s also accused of campaign finance violations, defrauding a disabled veteran over his dead dog and having a secret drag act called Kitara in Brazil. (Santos has denied the allegations.)
So, with plenty of fodder, the Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert shows have all brought in comics to play lawmakers, as well as “Saturday Night Live.” One “SNL” alum, Jon Lovitz, took on the role on “The Tonight Show.”
