Geo Chiu beat the Friday deadline for applications, bringing the total number of hopefuls for the PBA Rookie Draft on Sept. 7 at SM Mall of Asia Music Hall to 128.
The 6-foot-10 standout of the MPBL’s Abra Weavers submitted his documents right before Friday’s deadline for those interested to take part in the proceedings.

Chiu played for Ateneo and later with Gilas Pilipinas under coach Tab Baldwin before spending time in Japan for B.League second division side Ehime Orange Vikings.
lso saw action with Batang Gilas in the 2019 Fiba U-19 World Cup and suited up for the Taiwan Mustangs in The Asian Tournament last year.
Since joining Abra last month, Chiu has averaged 5.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.0 block in eight games.
Observers see Chiu as among those expected to be picked in the first round, along with Juan Gomez de Liano, Jason Brickman, Dalph Panopio and Will Gozum.
The 24-year-old is expected to finish his MPBL duties before joining the PBA team that selects him.
Terrafirma will pick first in the PBA Draft followed by Phoenix, Blackwater, NorthPort, NLEX, Magnolia, Meralco, Converge, San Miguel Beer, Rain or Shine, Barangay Ginebra and Rain or Shine (from TNT).
