‘Gay’ Head Descended From Palanquin
Popular homosexual rights activist, Davis Mac Iyalla, who was installed Amankorehen from the Yamonransa Nkusukum Traditional Area in the Central Region fell from the stretcher he was carrying during the coronation.
Chief Gay, who was given the seat name “Nana Kwesi Gyasi I” was carried on a palanquin through the town of Yamonransa sprinkling schnapps along the route before arriving at the durbar grounds at Nkusukum palace.
When he arrived at the field, Nana Gyasi together with the head of Paramount Nana Okese Esandoh was held a meeting with the police officers on the field.
After close to the hour in the engagement, the chiefs came to the durbar grounds to continue with the process but with the revised program.
Because of that, the oath of allegiance to Omanhen in the country in the initial program line-up was cancelled.
The ceremony was attended by some traditional rulers from Osu in Accra, Elmina, Mankessim and Cape Coast with heavy police presence to ensure peace during the precession through the streets.
A short video in which a stretcher can be seen falling on his head carrying him has been shared on social media.
Several people are heard in the video screaming and calling out “Jesus” in an attempt to save the chief from landing on the ground from the stretcher.
Not long after the screams, people were seen running to the place where the palanquin fell.
Nana Okese Esandoh thanked everyone who attended the outdoor event.
In his speech, Nana Esandoh called on everyone to be able to advance the development of the community.
He was inaugurated by Omanhen and President of Nkusukum Traditional Area, Nana Okese Essandoh IX at the weekend with a promise to fight for human rights.
He urged the government to improve the condition of roads in the community, storm drains and for the police headquarters and women’s cells, health centers with land available for the development.
