Japanese technology giant Fujitsu has filed a trademark application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), announcing its intention to offer brokerage services for cryptocurrency trading, among other crypto and non-crypto financial facilities.
Fujitsu’s trademark application aims to register a new sign which “consists of the stylized word FUJITSU with a slanted s shaped swirl over J and I,” as evidenced in an official document filed on March 16. Branding is dedicated to offering financial services, which include accepting deposits, loans funding and financial management and crypto asset exchange.

Fujitsu’s growing interest in web3 became evident when it launched its Web3 acceleration platform for startups and partners in February. The platform aims to support the creation of different Web3 application ecosystems in several use cases, such as digital content rights management, business transactions, contracts, and processes.

The deputy director general of the Bureau of Strategy Development and Management of the Financial Services Agency, Mamoru Yanase, admitted that the problem is not crypto. “What has caused the latest scandal is not the crypto technology itself,” he said, adding that the fault lay with “lax governance, lax internal controls and a lack of regulation and oversight.”
