From UNN comes Nwa Ala, a traditional art exhibition by nine artists | The Guardian Nigeria News

From the Department of Fine and Applied Arts, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, comes a group of nine visual artists refining their craft with a joint exhibition tagged, Nwa Ala.

Under the umbrella name, ’10 for 10 Art Society, the group of student artists presented 33 works over 10 days in their second joint exhibition.

Curated by Primrose Ochuba and Ibekwe Ugonna, Nwa Ala examines the development of Nsukka Art and art culture as young artists attempt to explore the origins and evolution of the Uli Art tradition.

The exhibition, which started on February 7, will last for 10 days at the Obiora Udechukwu Gallery, Department of Fine and Applied Arts, University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

Although it was the third time, the first outing as a group was a theater performance titled Akwobo Natutor.

Meanwhile, the first visual art exhibition will be held in 2021 with the title, Shadows of Solitude.

In the current exhibition, the group uses mixed media and the works on display include paintings, drawings and some relief paintings.

The exhibiting artists are Ugonna Ibekwe, lgbobinna Eze, August Tondo, Emeka Ezekiel, Okonkwo Ifeanyi, Miracle Eze, Goodness Nnabeze, Evans Green and Fortune Arimnuta, all students of Applied Arts.
