Xavier Rey, director of the French National Museum of Modern Art, noted in a statement that the Pompidou Center “pursues interest in digital art, which is related to blockchain.” According to Rey:
“Web3 is an innovative area that artists are now seizing to create original and daring works, and this collection reaffirms our support to artists in conquering new means of expression, which is the basis of modern art.”
The exhibition – scheduled for this spring – marks the NFT’s first appearance at the internationally renowned Center Pompidou, home to works by other artists such as Vassily Kandinsky, Frida Kahlo and Henri Matisse.

NFT is a digital object that has features such as uniqueness and non-exchangeability, verifiable on the blockchain. Based on distributed ledger technology, NFT can be a method of authentication for buyers of unique goods, proving aspects such as ownership. In particular, they appear in art, music, as well as in blockchain-based video games.
