From high success wins South African Idol season 13 at the age of 17, Paxton Fieles has come a long way.
The star has grown up, she is 22 this year, and her music has become a young woman.
Residents recently caught up with the artist who is based in Cape Town.
Paxton admits that his life has changed drastically since his win idol in 2017.
Life after Idols
From performing for a TV audience of millions, the winner of season 13, after mass attention, at the age of 18 released several number one hits such asI don’t want to and The battlefield in 2018.
Paxton is grateful for the opportunities the singing competition has brought her because it has opened so many doors for her. He praised idol team for being very accommodating in the early stages of his school career.
“He helped me pave the way as an individual, he really helped me and guided me. I can’t say anything bad,” he said.
As SA Idol will end after 19 seasons, Paxton said it was “bittersweet”.
“It’s better to go higher and I’m excited to see how this season goes.”
Finding her voice
Fresh on the game Paxon says he wants to be versatile in his music while listening to many genres.
The artist added that he wants to make music that is good for him and that it will reach the public.
“I don’t like being bullied, so I like to tackle different categories.”
Paxton’s music can be described as empowering women, knowing what they want in a relationship and the singer laughs at how that happened.

When he was young, the music was written for him but songs such as Manner written from personal experience.
“I’ve always wanted to write music for girls, music to be prepared for, songs that you can relate to and move and have an impact on. I’m big on women’s empowerment.
New Music
Having not released new music in a few years, Paxton released a new single Tap and Go this Friday (March 3) and he said the song was spontaneous and in the moment.
Explaining the single, he said: “It was actually inspired by a conversation I had with a friend about how complex and complicated dating can be when you are a young professional and paving your own path”.
Paxton is also set for an EP but in the works; “This is definitely a new era for me”, and he is excited to blossom into who he wants to be and where he is as a person.
She believes that fans and a wider audience are ready to see the young woman she has become.
Paxton’s dream collaboration is with international DJ Black Coffee and he describes the Grammy winner as “a visionary artist who forges his own path”.
