Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun has approved the implementation of the Farmers Intervention Program (FIP), focusing on agricultural input subsidies for farmers in the state.

This was in a statement by the spokesman for the governor, Malam Olawale Rasheed, in Osogbo.
The statement said the new intervention program will cover fertilizer and chemical subsidies for farmers.
He said fertilizers and chemicals would be subsidized by the government for more than 40 percent of their value through direct purchase from producers.

The statement said that in order to maintain the credibility of the program, farm inputs will be stamped with project managers in the country’s agricultural sector, who will coordinate the marketing and distribution process.
According to the statement, the intervention will evolve into a revolving fund process so that the sustainability of the project is guaranteed.
The statement quoted the governor as saying: “this is our first intervention before the new rainy season.
“The government will ensure that the subsidized inputs reach the farmers. This program will positively touch the lives of our farmers.
