The Durban side were taken to the cleaners by Stellenbosch FC on Friday night, beating them 2-0 to add to Folz’s woes.
The young coach looked out of depth and blamed the defeat on a lack of goals up front.
“Our first half was good. We created good chances to score,” said the French-Moroccan mentor after the game.
“In one, it hit the post and in the other there was a one v one situation against the goalkeeper when it was still 0-0.
“But after that we fell into a trap. We knew they would use every transition.
“And if we leave that spot, you know they’re going to find it. Our balance in the second half was very low.
“So now we’re finding the right formula to make sure we have a balance in that kind of situation,” Folz added.
He said the Stellies had one plan and they knew about it, but still allowed it to work out the way they wanted.
“According to them, they have won one plan that they are doing. But we know about it.
“And we gave them a chance to execute the plan, and they did it well.
“Our distance in terms of how to prevent people from running into space is very long,” Folz said.
The defeat leaves Usuthu closer to the relegation zone than the top four that Folz has given them to achieve this season.
Caf AmaZulu’s competition dreams are gone
They are seven points off 15th-placed Maritzburg United. And that gap could be cut even shorter if Maritzburg wins against Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday evening.
Usuthu are currently 11 points behind second-placed SuperSport United who can also increase their distance if they win against Orlando Pirates.
AmaZulu management claim they want the team to return to Caf club competition, but Folz seems to be struggling to make ends meet.
For that to happen, they need to finish third or above in the league as they are out of the Nedbank Cup.
Folz insisted that scoring has remained a hindrance to his team’s progress this season.

“It’s back to the same problem as last time. With the chances we have, we have to be the first to score,” he said.
AmaZulu have some of the best forwards in the league with Lehlohono Majoro, Gabadinho Mhango and Bongi Ntuli.
