Folz happy with amazulu nedbank cup win against Tornado

AmaZulu FC coach Romain Folz was happy with the result but not sure of the performance as his side beat Tornado FC to move into the last 16 of the Nedbank Cup at the weekend.

Folz said he needs to make sure he doesn’t hurt opponents, and he believes he can do better in front of the goal.

The AmaZulu coach, however, praised several substitutes for their 3-2 win over Motsepe League side ABC, thanks to goals from Mbongeni Gumede, Gabadinho Mhango and Bongi Ntuli.

“I’ve done everything I need to do, to respect my opponent, respect the game and I think I’ve done everything,” Folz said.

“We enter the game seriously, calmly, we have a job to do and we (do it). I believe there are some gaps here, sometimes the team is caught in transition, not as clear as we want (results).

“But everyone came to the party, even the substitutes – most of them had an impact on the game. I believe it was a game that should have finished 4-1 or 4-0 if we had been better in front of goal.

While sure the scoreline could have been different if the players took chances in front of the goal, Folz has chosen to focus on moving forward and only take the positives in the next game.

“You always focus on the positives and fix the negatives, but not a lot of the negatives,” he said.

With a place in the last 16 wrapped up for the KwaZulu-Natal-based club, the next task is back in the DStv Premiership, with a meeting against TS Galaxy in Durban scheduled for Friday night.

Folz is hoping that his side can continue their five-match unbeaten run in all competitions, with the club having recorded two wins and three draws in those matches.
