Following International Women’s Day, Tanzania is looking to close the gender gap in its digital sector

Speaking at the Launch Pad and the Tanzania Women and Technology Conference organized by Nnauye, Mr. Nape Nnauye explained how these tactics to eliminate the gender digital divide.

“The world is moving into an age of advanced technology where everyone, regardless of gender, is a part of it,” said. According to the 2022 census in Tanzania, 51% of the population is women, this means that all must enter because leaving women means underdevelopment for the technology sector that affects the entire development industry, “ he added.

As these tactics become effective, the government aims to provide digital security for both men and women. “They will not be introduced together because some will need time for investment and stakeholder engagement,” the minister disclosed.

Carol Ndosi, co-founder of Launch Pad, stated that this tactic will expand access to ICT for both men and women, as well as end many of the problems faced by women in the digital gender divide. “The root problems for this gap between men and women include a lack of skills and education to help them navigate different technologies, unaffordable devices and education about these technologies,” she said.
