Fix the community center or face our wrath – Bimbilla youth to Nitiwul
A disgruntled New Patriotic Party youth group in Bimbilla constituency has given the Member of Parliament for the area, Dominic Nitiwul, a three-month ultimatum to complete the construction of a community center in the constituency capital or face their wrath.
He said the MP who became Minister of Defense during the 2020 campaign led to the demolition of the old community center by promising to build a multi-purpose center for public use.
Currently, the project is about 50 percent complete and appears to be abandoned, a situation that the youths want.
The aggrieved youth therefore asked the MP to fulfill his promise in the next three months by ensuring the completion of the project.
Some of the young people spoke Citi News expressed his disappointment in the MP.
“We are very disappointed with the Members of Parliament and the Minister of Defense. In fact, the young people have been patient enough and this time, we gave them an ultimatum of three months to complete the community center or face their wrath. During the campaign, they promised to build it in six months. It has been three years and the project appears to be abandoned.
The youth also mentioned other projects such as the Bimbilla High School canteen which has been built since 2013. Citi News has on many occasions reported how school students are left in the weather where they eat outside.
The youth also accused the MP of lying to him after he failed to provide the promised astroturf.
“Our MPs have lied to us for a long time. Look at the positions they hold in government and they have nothing to show for it. Fellow MPs like Abu Jinapor from Damongo, Tampuli from Gushegu, Aminu Anta from Karaga and Farouk Aliu Mahama from Yendi, look at what they are doing for the constituents. We are saying enough is enough. If he can’t bring development to us, he should leave it for someone who can come.
The youth also claimed that the inner roads of the Bimbilla constituency capital, are full of residents with potholes, making it difficult for drivers to move.
The hospital which is the main referral center in the Eastern corridor has no mortuary. The mortuary refrigerator has been broken for about ten years now and residents have no place to store the dead.
“Look at the roads in Bimbilla town, they are full of potholes and the hospital also has no mortuary. The refrigerator in the morgue has been broken for over ten years now. In Yendi when Farouk was going to compete, he went and worked on the mortuary in the hospital, he renovated it, repaired it and now the Yendi mortuary is in use”.
Therefore, the youths called on the MPs not to contest in 2024 if they will not campaign against them.
