Five types of organic cream sellers to avoid

Director General of the National Agency for Administration and Supervision of Medicines and Food (NAFDAC), Mojisola Adeyeye, on Thursday, declared a state of emergency over skin bleaching in Nigeria.

Ms Adeyeye said this at a Media Sensitization Workshop on Bleaching Cream Hazards and Regulatory Control, held in Kano.

He said, “A World Health Organization study in 2018 revealed that the use of skin whitening cream is common among 77 percent of Nigerian women, the highest in Africa compared to 59 percent in Togo, 35 percent in South Africa and 27 percent in Senegal.

These frightening statistics, he said, show that the bleaching cream menace in Nigeria has become a national health emergency that calls for a multi-faceted regulatory approach.

Skin bleaching craze

Gone are the days when we only relied on shea butter or vaseline to get glassy skin. Now, thanks to the advancement of technology, skin care brands are popping up all over the country, offering to solve skin problems like sunburn, acne, and rashes in a limited time.

While many of these brands rely on chemicals to provide users with the desired results, some brands pride themselves on using only organic ingredients to make their products.

In the past few years, organic creams have gone from a must to a necessity. The latter is mainly a result of the entry of brands that sell real products that not only make the condition of the user’s skin worse but endanger their health.

However, that doesn’t mean you should dismiss the idea of ​​getting organic carrot cream.

That promises quick results

Perfect skin doesn’t happen overnight or in a week; it takes months, if not months. Instead of being excited and hopeful when you find a cream offering to get rid of dark spots in three days, think about the authenticity.

In instances where, based on reviews, the promise seems genuine, you should also be skeptical. This is because most organic creams only provide temporary results; when you stop using it, your face goes back to that way.

The product does not have a NAFDAC registration number

This is a giant red flag in any organic cream product. There is a reason why a regulatory body like NAFDAC exists; If the product does not have a registration number, it is not tested.

Social media has made it easy for anyone to create an account and establish themselves as a skin care vendor. Many of these vendors do not follow protocol; they applied what they were taught in beauty school and started selling products.

There is no list of ingredients

Vendors selling fake skin care products are very vague, especially when it comes to listing the ingredients they use.

Avoid buying creams that provide zero or few details about the ingredients in the product. This prevents allergies that can occur with the use of special ingredients and helps identify if the cream contains chemicals that are harmful to the body.

Have skin problems

Honestly, why do skin vendors who sell dark spot removal creams have so many marks on their faces? It just shows that the product you are asked to buy is impractical.

Every entrepreneur is a reference image for their business. So, if a vendor can’t get rid of acne, rashes, or boils with their products, what gives them the impression that they’ll up your skin game?

Using Snapchat filters

As with the previous point, if your organic cream seller is using Snapchat filters on their videos or pictures, you should stick with shea butter products instead of spending hundreds of thousands.

Using Snapchat filters means that they are not one hundred percent proud of their skin, which translates into the possibility of bad skin.
