Financing 2022 Budget Deficit Was Part of a “Crises Management Tool” – Bank of Ghana | Economy

The Bank of Ghana said the financing of the 2022 Budget deficit is part of the crisis management tools it is using to overcome the difficulties of 2022.

In a Rejoinder signed by Sandra Thompson(MS), Secretary, in 2020, the Parliament of Ghana suspended the Fiscal Responsibility Act, 2018 (Act, 982) due to the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a rejoinder, the Bank of Ghana stated that attention has been drawn to the recent discussion in the media about the funding of the budget in 2022.

“While this particular issue has been fully addressed by the Bank of Ghana in its previous press release, on November 11, and more recently at the Monetary Policy Committee press conference on January 30, 2023, the Bank of Ghana is forced to reiterate its previous assessment and address the misinformation and inaccurate, and to anchor the discussion in the public domain,” said in a press statement.
