FCT residents decry epileptic power supply, urge AEDC on improved supply | The Guardian Nigeria News

Many residents and business owners in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), have protested the epileptic power supply currently being experienced in the area.

Electricity consumers, who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Sunday, expressed poor electricity supply in their homes and business premises.

According to them, the current electricity supply has decreased compared to the past few months.

Mrs. Omolara Amosun, a resident hairdresser in Kuje said the situation is bad because she has to rely on generators to run her business.

“We don’t get electricity all day. I have to rely on generators and even to get fuel for power is difficult because most fuel stations don’t sell by the gallon.

“It is not easy because I am losing customers every day and this is not good for my business.

“I want to appeal to AEDC to do something about the poor power situation quickly,” she said.

Mr Linus Okoro, a welder in Lugbe, said the situation was dire as he had been without power for the whole day.

“The supply has been epileptic for the past few weeks unlike before when we had a steady supply.

“My request to AEDC and the government is to ensure better electricity so that we can survive because we depend on power to run our businesses,” he said.

Also speaking, Mrs Agnes Okiemute, a fashion designer who lives in Peace Village, Lugbe said that electricity is not very common in her area.

According to him, they have light for only four to five hours a day and sometimes they don’t get the whole day.

“I asked AEDC to increase resources for the area to enable me to run my business effectively.”He said.

Mrs. Cynthia Aregbesola, a teacher who lives in Bwari, Abuja said electricity is not constant in her area.

Aregbesola said that AEDC plays with light, they take, bring more than 10 times a day.

‘I don’t even know what’s going on, my request is that they need to increase the electricity.

NAN remembers that AEDC has in a statement issued on Friday attributed the drop in resources in the franchise area to the allocation of insufficient load.

The company said that insufficient load allocation has forced the company to temporarily store power in various areas.

The company apologizes for the inconvenience caused, and asks customers for understanding, while working with stakeholders to ensure improved and stable electricity supply.
