The African Democratic Congress (ADC) chairmanship candidate for Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Dr. Moses Paul, on Saturday alleged intimidation of his party’s agents and blamed the movement restriction for the low voter turnout recorded in parts of the council.
Speaking at his polling unit, Paul said voter turnout was significantly lower than expected.
He attributed the situation to what he described as confusion arising from the movement restriction directive.

The candidate, who said he has lived in AMAC for about 40 years, noted that he had never witnessed such circumstances, describing the development as resembling “a state of emergency” over what he considered unwarranted.
Paul, however, commended electoral officials at his polling unit for conducting themselves professionally and adhering to due process. He added that reports reaching him indicated that ADC agents in Takum Shara and parts of Kabusa Ward, including Dogongada and Shereti, were allegedly threatened and intimidated.
He also described vote-buying as a criminal act and alleged that it was taking place in parts of the capital city.
“Despite the challenges, I remain confident of emerging victorious. The will of the people will prevail. Nigerians should resist intimidation and demand accountable leadership,” he said.
