Are you wildcard in GW26 or save for GW27 or later?
HS: I’m a bit dependent on the team: I’m personally going for the wildcard this week because I don’t have Brentford and Brighton players now and feel overexposed in Newcastle United and Liverpool assets for a difficult schedule this weekend. I think this week or next week now looks like the optimal strategy, especially with minimal distractions for Blank Gameweek 28 and 32.
UK: There was a huge benefit to Wildcarding this week, so much so that I decided to hit the magic button myself. The FA Cup saw a number of disruptions, resulting in fewer games being postponed in the empty Gameweeks 28 and 32 as well as fewer games expected to be double Gameweeks in the 34 and 37.
With this in mind, we need less chips for the time being and can now focus on setting up our teams (with wildcards) for some exciting double Gameweeks on the horizon. The well-executed wildcard this week allows you to have the full quota (six) of double Gameweek players on 27, create a team of 10 strong players on the empty 28 and then have 13 players who play twice on the double Gameweek 29, which gives the bench. boost options.
If you were wildcarding, which player should you play?
HS: A triple up in Brentford seems like a good idea because they have six fixtures in the next four: David Raya, Ben Mee and Ivan Toney is the optimal triple. I also like to use Brighton’s assets this time, with Karou Mitoma the safest option for the attackers. Don’t drop Erling Haaland or Marcus Rashford this time, even if it’s empty. Spurs’ assets are also a sensible option, with Harry Kane key and possibly a winger. I will also hold the Arsenal treble.
UK: I will concentrate my wildcard efforts to be great in Brentford, Brighton and Arsenal players. Brentford play five times in the next three Gameweeks and Raya, Toney and Rico Henry have all caught my eye. Also, Brighton have had a couple of good double Gameweeks and look like they can score two goals a game, so I would double up in midfield with Solly March and Mitoma alongside Pervis Estupian, who provides a good assist threat. .
Picking three Arsenal players feels like a lottery these days as many have scored big FPL points in the team, but Bukayo Saka will be the first name in most managers’ squads. I am likely to praise him with two players who are flying high at the moment over two players who have performed consistently well all season. Knowing that I will release the player in Gameweek 29 (because it does not double), I look at Gabriel Martinelli and Oleksandr Zinchenko in Martin Odegaard and Gabriel.
Another name locked in my wildcard is Kane, who now doesn’t have an empty Gameweek for the rest of the season (due to Spurs losing the FA Cup), along with Kieran Trippier, Rashford and Haaland.
With news of a potential ban for Toney this season, would you like to bring him in or stay away?

HS: I will bring him and risk. I’m hoping the outcome of the FA hearing won’t happen until April anyway. We have to remember that he could face a two-match suspension if he also gets 10 yellow cards – he currently has eight but as a talisman, he is a good option in the interim.
UK: FPL is often about risk reward and the ceiling is so high for Toney with Brentford’s good game that I can’t avoid him. At a time when forwards middle-priced popular Eddie Nketiah (now a risk of minutes) and Aleksandar Mitrovic (shy last goal) do not produce FPL high back, it is an easy transfer to add even more danger to the transfer in Toney , we also have to admit that he has eight yellow card and two more yellows before Brentford’s 32nd league game will see him banned for two matches. Still worth the risk.
Who is the best captain choice for GW26? From, Kane or Haaland? Anyone thinking about it?

HS: I struggled with this decision, with all the trio in the frame. Haaland has a home game which will definitely benefit him, but I still feel tempted to go with Saka because he is in the penalty shootout and it is easier on paper. It’s been a busy week for him, but Haaland had a break in the FA Cup in midweek.
UK: There are two obvious captain choices this week and I can’t argue with that. Haaland vs Saka is a tough decision for managers, with home advantage and also a penalty shootout, which I would have liked from the captain.
Haaland rested the week and was the most lethal player in the game, but we can’t ignore that Newcastle have one of the best defensive records in the league. While Saka has the stronger game on paper, you could argue that there is more of a spread of points in Arsenal’s attack, with three or four players sharing a goal, unlike at Man City where everything was channeled to Haaland.
With that said, I will captain Saka, who was excellent in Arsenal’s 4-0 win over Everton on Wednesday. I am rooting for the match and expect Arsenal to score big against weaker opposition in Bournemouth.
Would you keep or sell Liverpool players if you had your team?
HS: The Liverpool asset is a sell for me, given their shaky form and empty schedule. Mohamed Salah is very expensive and other attacking options are a rotation risk. His defensive consistency is also a minefield right now. This is the perfect time to jump in before the visit of Manchester United.
UK: Had I not been in the wildcard, I would have retained the Liverpool players, who seem to be able to turn the corner with a win against Wolves. Of course, Man Utd’s games are not easy, but home advantage can be there and in GW27 they play Bournemouth who now have a goal to enjoy.
