
Former GOP operative Tim Miller on Friday suggested that Donald Trump’s weaknesses could lead to the former president becoming the Republican party’s 2024 presidential candidate.
Trump’s “successful efficacy” especially on immigration issues may have played a key role, a former Republican National Committee spokesman told MSNBC’s Alex Wagner.
But Trump’s push to develop a coronavirus vaccine, and his acceptance of COVID mitigation measures such as lockdowns in the early months of the pandemic, may have made him “most vulnerable,” Miller said.
“He could be, ‘Oh, you’re in with the medical establishment, the elites, when (Florida Republican Gov.) Ron DeSantis … zagged the other way and listened to people,'” Miller said.
The prediction surprised Wagner.
“Well,” he replied. “Wow. From someone who advocated hydroxychloroquine, he is now mainstream for the GOP.
