Former NFL coach Tony Dungy on Wednesday dismissed a far-right complaint that schools used litter boxes for students who identified cats — and he took a clawing at them on social media.
Dungy, now a football analyst for NBC, responded to a Daily Wire report about a Minnesota state proposal that would put menstrual products in boys’ school bathrooms.
“Nothing,” the former Indianapolis Colts coach tweeted. “Some school districts put litter boxes in school bathrooms for students who identify cats. It’s important to meet the needs of every student.
The urban legend has been supported by “politically conservative types who oppose LGBTQ+ rights and gender nonconformity,” says the Indianapolis Star. (The canard may have started after some Colorado schools asked for cat litter to be placed in buckets for students if there was a classroom lockdown due to threats.)
