Ex-governor denies collecting bribe to endorse PDP candidate

Former governor of Enugu State, Sullivan Chime, on Tuesday dismissed insinuations that he collected money from Peter Mbah of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to endorse him as the next governor.

Mr. Chime is the chief of the tribe All Progressive Congress (APC)

Responding to the insinuation making the rounds, Mr. Chime said approved Mr. Grandma because of his “excellent pedigree and competence”.

The former governor supported Pak Mbah for the progress and development of the country.

He insisted that the PDP governorship candidate would add value to the state.

“People are saying that I collected money to endorse the PDP governorship candidate, but that is not true.

“I have checked the credentials of all the candidates and I am sure that Mbah will be better than the others.

“In March, I will be 64 years old and I want a good future for my grandchildren. With Grandma, the future of Enugu State is secure and assured,” he said.

Mr. Chime added that people should vote on competence, character and ability and not party.

He describes Mr. Grandma as someone who knows what to do at any given moment and is approachable for advice and correction.

Mr. Mbah is the former CEO of a growing oil and gas company, Pinnacle Oil and Gas Ltd, he said.

“With what he is doing at Pinnacle Oil and Gas, he will transform the country. I am asking people to come out on March 11 and vote for Grandma,” Mr Chime said.

He also charged the citizens of Enugu State to desist from violence during the election.

Mr. Chime said Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi did not do as expected, and that is why he left PDP for APC.

He refused to join the APC to avoid arrest and investigation into his administration as governor of Enugu State.
