Push yourself too far. Since survived premiere in 2000, there have been some players who had to leave the game due to medical evacuation – and some of them have been downright scary.
Michael Skupin was the first contestant to be withdrawn from the game during Survivor: Outback Australia back in 2001. On the 17th, the software publisher fell into the campfire, which left him with severe burns on his hands. He had to be taken out of the game to treat his injury.
In 2007, the CBS reality series suffered its first season with multiple medevacs. while Survivor: Micronesia, Jonathan Penner suffered a puncture wound in the knee while competing in the reward challenge. While he seemed fine at first, a team of doctors on the scene discovered the injury was infected a few days later. The author, who did not want to leave, was finally pulled from the game on the 15th.

The 2016 iteration of the show has gone down as one of the most physically demanding seasons ever. On the ninth day, Caleb Reynolds was the first player that season to be evacuated after collapsing from heat stroke and coming down with a 110-degree fever. Two additional players, Cydney Gillon and Debbie Wanneralso collapsed but stayed in the game.
Ten days later, Jeff Probst bring a doctor to the newly joined tribe after several contestants are reported injured. Neal Gottlieb, for his part, knew he had multiple staph infections. He was taken out of the competition and became the first official jury member.
On the 34th day, Joe Del Campo when he had pain in the bladder after returning from the reward challenge. The ex-FBI agent received treatment and was allowed to stay in the game for one more day pending his recovery. After these observations, Del Campo stopped the game and became a member of the jury.
In the new era of survived, Bruce Perreault he was the first player to be removed from the game on the first day. At Survive 44 the competitor hit his head against a wooden barrier and began to bleed profusely. Although he appeared to be fine, the insurance agent admitted that he began to feel ill that evening. After being evaluated by the medical team, Bruce was forced out of the game.
After the March 2023 premiere, the longtime host announced on the podcast’s debut episode, “On Fire with Jeff Probst,” that Bruce had officially been invited back for another season.
