I have watched with dismay, trying to predicate the gubernatorial campaign for Lagos State in nothing but tribalism and one has been overcome by the fear that in this day and age, it can be the only determining factor in the future of the great country. the population and economy of many African countries choose the next leader.
Now we all have established that I am a card-carrying member of the All Progressives Congress since its inception. It is natural that some people dismiss my position on His Excellency, Babajide Sanwo-Olu as nothing more than a talk of partisans counting votes for his party’s candidate to return for a second term. I assure you it is not like that.
I am a sociologist and student of society whose understanding of politics, religion, economics, philosophy, ethnography and general human behavior has been guided by sociological reflection.
I know that for every political endeavor, structure is needed and the form of structure, although complex and rigid, is also fluid enough to include intangibles like emotions and sentiments.
Even though some people oppose tribal, religious and regional sentiments in electing leaders, I believe that such sentiments are part of the political fabric. The extent to which they are exploited is the line that must be drawn for the common good.

The All Progressives Congress candidate for Lagos governor is the incumbent. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. The supporters of the enemy did not give a strong reason why he should be voted out of office but the fact of his ancestry. I admit that tribalism can be part of your structure, it smacks of civil irresponsibility to reduce all debates in governance to the candidate’s ancestors and tribes from his mother and wife. I have scoured social media in an attempt to see what the supporters of the most vocal ‘challengers’ have to say about their competence and antecedents. As validating as the training is, I have come up short.
It is obvious that the only justification for upending the conscripted administration of Sanwoolu is not because he is rascally or unproductive. It is rather because of the vendetta-led hostility based on the tribal jingoism of the political rabble rousers who must constantly profiteer from the disorder.
Politics is not a black market where you cheat money to feed yourself-seeking bank account seed and germinated with a duplicitous agenda.

Politics is the foundation of rallying and the coming together of like-minded people who share a vision to lead and understand that there will be different groups that are critical of that vision.
Sanwo-Olu has done well when his performance is scrutinized in terms of governance. His notes are there for all to see. I am asking all citizens and residents of the Aquatic Splendor State to come out, mobilize for them and come out on Saturday, March 11, back to office.
Some of you have been in that group with criticism that was never constructive but was a social disaster. However, this Sanwoolu listens to you and never goes out of his way to use the state apparatus to shut you down. They have been there like civilians, read you on social media but never arrested or detained anyone. He is focused on building the country and some of you, despite your virulent rhetoric prove your decency in the difficult task of governance.
If you have an opinion that is contrary to his decency as a leader, then let’s debate how to get rid of him.
His academic qualifications are beyond doubt. Babajide Sanwo-Olu holds a BSc in Surveying and an MBA from the University of Lagos. An alumnus of John F. Kennedy School of Government, London Business School and Lagos Business School, he has managerial and leadership experience in the private and public sectors.
“Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu was the treasurer of the former Lead Merchant Bank from 1994 to 1997, after which he moved to United Bank for Africa as the head of the foreign exchange market. He then proceeded to First Inland Bank, Plc (now First City Monument Bank) as a representative general manager and division head.He is the chairman of Baywatch Group Limited and First Class Group Limited.
Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu started his political career in 2003, when he was appointed Special Adviser on Corporate Matters to the deputy governor of Lagos State, Femi Pedro. He was later appointed Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget until 2007, when he was appointed Commissioner for Trade and Industry by the governor and now President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
After the 2007 elections, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu was appointed Commissioner for Establishment, Training and Pensions by Governor Babatunde Fashola. Sanwo-Olu was made the Managing Director/CEO of the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation (LSDPC) by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode in 2016 and later became the Governor of Lagos State after defeating his opponents balablu and bulaba in 2019. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will win his second term and continue to produce more results for the benefit of the masses.
