Eric Swalwell Shares The Receipts In Takedown Of GOP Lawmakers’ Tweets

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) tore into Republican social media posts on Wednesday and called out Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, for “looking the other way” when sharing a controversial post from former President Donald Trump .

Swalwell, during a Judiciary subcommittee hearing, criticized the House Judiciary GOP account overseen by Jordan and blasted him on several other issues, including the subcommittee’s “government weapons” and Jordan’s authored letter criticizing Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s investigation into Trump.

He mocked Jordan’s response to Trump’s Truth Social post last week that called for “potential death and destruction” if the former president is indicted in a New York investigation into payments to adult film stars before Trump’s 2016 election.

“Mr. Jordan said he needs glasses. They look the other way,” Swalwell said in front of a poster with a larger image of Trump’s post.

“I’ll leave this here in 200 font, so Mr. Jordan doesn’t need glasses to read it.”

The California Democrat then uploaded the House Judiciary Committee’s deleted account “Kanye. Elon. Trump.” tweet, which remained until Ye praised Adolf Hitler during an antisemitic media tour in late 2022.

“The Jewish community, they’re sick, they’re saying, ‘Don’t … post this tweet. It’s staying up,'” Swalwell said.

He asked Republican lawmakers about subpoenaing witnesses to last week’s hearing who has tweeted “fucking cops,” then highlighted “defund the FBI” merchandise advertised by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) on social media.

“We went from ‘supporting the blue’ to ‘supporting the coup,'” Swalwell said.
