The Norwegian is suspected of a thigh injury.

The withdrawal comes just three days before City take on Premier League rivals Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

The exact extent of Haaland’s injury is unclear, but it would be a huge blow if the forward, who has scored 25 goals in 20 appearances, is not available for the trip to London.

With City’s win over Villa, they now have 48 points, just three off Arsenal, meaning a win would take them top of the table for the first time this season.
