The immediate past chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State, Dr. Ben Nwoye, yesterday, said the alleged banning of the Tinubu/Shettima Grassroots Independent Campaign Council (ICC) by the state executive of the party was a ploy to sabotage Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s presidential ambitions in Enugu State.
He also said that state leaders have not campaigned for the party’s presidential candidate, stressing that majority of billboards in the state do not carry campaign images of Tinubu and Shettima.
It will be recalled that the state executive led by Ugo Agballah after the meeting on Wednesday announced the ban on the activities of the Tinubu/Shettima Grassroots Independent Campaign Council (ICC) led by the former Senate President, Ken Nnamani and Nwoye in the state, pointed out. he used the platform to negotiate cabinet positions with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state. It warned party members to refrain from further relations with the group.
The party’s secretary, Robert Ngwu, who briefed journalists after the meeting, also said they had set up a disciplinary committee against Nnamani and two others, adding that it was long overdue to expel Nwoye from the party.
Responding to the issue at the ICC state secretariat, Nwoye insisted that Ugochukwu Agballah and those who put him in office want to ensure that Tinubu fails miserably in the country, adding that he is envious of the breakthroughs made by the campaign council. in the country.
“The ICC was formed by our presidential candidate to augment the efforts of the APC presidential council which the party has put together. So, the two units are working together to ensure the success of our beloved presidential candidate, Ahmed Tinubu, and his running mate, Shettima.
“Unfortunately, Enugu State has become a state where Ugo Agballah and those who put him in place do not want our candidates to succeed in the first place.”
