Emirates has increased its operations by 31% (total ASKM) since the beginning of the financial year and has further plans to increase seat capacity in the latest northern summer schedule published from 26 March 2023. The airline has expanded its global network to include more many destinations in Africa and other continents. This expansion will have a significant impact in connecting more African travelers and businesses to the rest of the world.
In the past month, the airline has planned and executed a rapid growth of its network operations – re-introducing services to 5 cities; launched flights to 1 new destination (Tel Aviv), added 251 weekly flights to existing routes, and continued to improve services in the air and on the ground.
Adnan Kazim, Emirates Chief Commercial Officer said: “Emirates continues to expand its global network and leverage capacity to meet worldwide travel demand. Our financial year started quietly as we put the ramp on hold until the planned northern runway rehabilitation program at Dubai International airport is completed in in June. Since July 2022, the expansion has not stopped.
He added: “Customer demand is very strong, and forward bookings are also strong. Emirates is working hard on many fronts – to generate operating capacity as quickly as the ecosystem can handle, while also upgrading our fleet and products to ensure our customers always enjoy the experience Emirates at its best.To date, 4 of our A380 aircraft have been refurbished with new cabin interiors and Premium Economy seats, and more will enter service as our US$2 billion cabin and service improvement program progresses.
In the coming months, established routes to Europe, Australia and Africa will be served by more Emirates flights, while in East Asia, more cities are seeing the resumption of routes.
Upcoming A380 deployments in North Summer 2023:
Emirates continues to expand its A380 operations by reintroducing the iconic double-decker on its network: Glasgow (from 26 March), Casablanca from (15 April), Beijing (from 01 May), Shanghai (from 04 June), Nice (from 1 June), Birmingham (from 1 July), Kuala Lumpur (from 01 August), and Taipei (from 01 August).
Upcoming route improvements by region:
Europe
· Amsterdam: from 14 to 19 weekly flights from 02 April.
· Athens: Addition of daily seasonal service to serve hot requests between 01 June to 30 September.
· Bologna: from 5 flights a week to a daily service from 01 May.
· Budapest: from 5 flights a week to a daily service on 01 June.
· London: start of 2nd daily service to London Stansted on 01 May. This will take Emirates’ London operations to 11 daily flights – including 6 daily to London Heathrow and 3 daily to Gatwick.
· Venice: from 5 to 6 flights a week from 26 March, increasing to a daily service from 01 June.
Africa
· Cairo: from 25 to 28 weekly flights on October 29.
· Dar es Salam: from 5 flights a week to daily flights from 01 May.
· Entebbe: from 6 flights a week to daily flights from 01 July.
Australia and New Zealand
Emirates’ non-stop Australian flights will return to pre-pandemic levels to Sydney from 01 May, Melbourne from 26 March, and Brisbane from 01 June.
· Brisbane: An additional daily service from 01 June will take Emirates to 14 flights per week to Brisbane.
· Christchurch: start daily service from Dubai via Sydney from March 26.
· Melbourne: addition of 3rd daily service to Melbourne from March 26 via Singapore. This increases capacity for Melbourne and rebuilds connectivity between Singapore and Melbourne. Another 2 daily flights from Melbourne fly nonstop to Dubai.
· Sydney: addition of 3 non-stop services per day from 01 May.
East Asia
· Bangkok: Additional 5 daily services from 01 August.
· Beijing: To start Boeing 777-300ER daily non-stop service from March 15, upgrade to A380 effective May 01. The twice-daily service will start September 1 with the A380.
· Hong Kong: Additional daily non-stop flights from March 29. This increased Emirates’ operations to 14 flights per week including a daily Dubai-Bangkok-Hong Kong service.
· Kuala Lumpur: Addition of service every third day from 01 June.
· Tokyo: Resumed service to Tokyo Haneda with daily flights on April 02. This would require Emirates Japan operations to 21 daily flights including a daily A380 service to Tokyo-Narita and a daily Boeing 777 service to Osaka.
