The former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, has condemned the presidential candidate from All Progressive Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, for saying that he is the president of Nigeria.
Mr. Tinubu said the now popular Yoruba phrase ’emi lokan’, which means “It’s my turn”, while campaigning for delegates in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, in the build-up to the APC presidential convention.
At the meeting, Mr. Tinubu narrated how his support assured Muhammadu Buhari the presidency of Nigeria after three failed attempts. He said he was the next person to be Nigeria’s president, repeating “It’s my turn.”
At general letter on SundayMr. Obasanjo said, “Let me say straight away that ‘Emi Lokan’ (my turn) and ‘I have paid my dues’ are one and the same thing and the wrong attitude and mentality for Nigerian leaders today.”
The claim, according to Mr. Obasanjo, “cannot form a new pedestal to reinvent and invest in a new Nigeria based on the All-Nigerian Government for the liberation and restoration of Nigeria.”
Mr. Obasanjo further said that no one can claim that he has the absolute solution to the problems facing Nigeria, stating that “the solution must lie in ‘us’ and ‘us’ and not in ‘me’ and ‘me’.”
Buhari dragged Nigeria down to its 1999 status
Commenting on the performance of President Muhammadu Buhari, the former president said the current administration has dragged Nigeria below the status it was in 1999 when he took over.
“I am sickened by the fact that most people do not know that Nigeria has been dragged under Nigeria at the beginning of my Presidency in June 1999,” he said of the presidential candidate.

He said he believes that Nigeria is currently in a bad state and is falling apart, but “is not faced with the level of insecurity and insecurity, leadership without a rudder, fueled by mismanagement of diversity and widespread corruption. , bad economic policies that lead to poverty.” and rampant unemployment and rampant inflation.
According to him, the four main factors that leaders should be aware of during the upcoming elections are what TVCP calls: “Track record of ability and performance; Genuine, honest and real vision; Character and qualities of women and men who are son of God and obey God; and physical and mental capabilities with a healthy mind because this is a very difficult task and the best task and more in the most difficult time.
Mr. Obasanjo in the letter later announced his support for Peter Obi, the Labor Party presidential candidate.
