The Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, CP Oyeyemi Oyediran, has ordered a ban on the movement of vehicles in the state between midnight and 6 p.m. on February 25 due to the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

The ban order was contained in a statement on Thursday in Akure by SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state.
Oyediran said that the order was in accordance with the directive of the Inspector General of Police IGP Alkali Usman Baba.
However, he explained that INEC officials, election observers, ambulances, firemen and others on essential and emergency services confirmed to be exempted.

“There will be no VIP movement or escort during the election period, while state security outfits are not allowed to be part of the VIP movement,” the statement said.
The CP, which ensured the safety of citizens during the exercise, called for their support to ensure a peaceful election.
