A 60-year-old man was killed by his own dog in North West Province.
This incident happened in front of people in Lichtenburg.
North West police spokesperson Captain Sam Tselanyane said an investigation had been opened.
The dog laughed
“He was told that when he unloaded the goods, the deceased’s husband was busy on the other side of the house when he heard the dogs barking. They didn’t bother to check what was wrong because their house was on a busy street and the dogs often surrounded pedestrians and passing vehicles.
After the electricity was turned on, the woman entered the house looking for her husband, but did not find him, Tselanyane said.

“After continuing the search, the woman saw her husband arguing outside the garden. S, he quickly went outside only to find that his wife had been bitten by a dog, two staffie/pitbull crosses and one dog of an unknown breed.
“Police and Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) were called and the man was certified dead at the scene. The SPCA was also called and the three dogs were removed from the scene,” said Tselanyane.

Dog attack
Several dog attacks have made headlines in South Africa recently, prompting petitions to ban pit bulls.
Last year, a 15-month-old baby was abused at Gonubie Farm in East London and was pronounced dead at Frere Hospital in the Eastern Cape.
According to police, the boy was playing with the neighbor’s pit bull in the yard when a man drove past the property with his dog.
The pit bull started barking at the dog outside and tried to get out of the yard. He then reportedly turned and stabbed the boy in the upper body.
The boy was taken to a nearby hospital, but succumbed to his injuries.
