Ei Ato – Bryan Acheampong shouts after being grilled by the Minority Leader
The Minister of Food and Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong was shocked after he was seriously interrogated by the Minority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson is considered a friend.
Mr Acheampong, who thought his friendship with the Minority Leader would save him from the grill when he appeared before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Monday, had his hopes dashed.
When he received a blow from the Minority Leader, he said: “Ato you are my friend. Today, you don’t believe me? This is Ato. You have to testify about my credibility”.
In response, Dr. Forson who is also the Member of Parliament for Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam constituency in the Central Region said he was only doing his job as expected by Ghanaians.
“We are here for Ghanaians, so we have to ask the necessary questions.”
Dr. Forson interrogated Bryan Acheampong, a former Minister of State in the Ministry of National Security, about the role he played in disrupting the election held in Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency on January 31, 2019.
The Abetifi MP has vehemently denied claims that he sent a national security operation to quell the chaos in Ayawaso West Wuogon.
“In the 500-plus page report [of the Commission of Inquiry], there is no section that mentions that I am authorizing. So everyone including me was shocked and scared that my name was found in the conclusion that I should be reprimanded. The White Paper therefore rejected the recommendation because it failed to establish the factual basis that I would allow the operation.
