ECG has not cut our power; we open in prepaid meters – Ministry of Energy
The Ministry of Energy says it has recorded reports that it has experienced a disconnection exercise from its agency, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) over unpaid electricity bills last Tuesday.
The ministry described the report as false as all the facilities are using pre-paid meters.
Speaking on the matter, the Communications Specialist in the Ministry, Kofi Abrefa Afena said, no Ministry has been disconnected from the network.
“The ministry only has prepaid payment challenges and that is why it called ECG to intervene,” he said.
He continued “The Ministry of Energy as the monitoring agency of ECG will support ECG to recover all the money received from energy sold to consumers.
The Ministry will lead by example in paying for the energy consumed”
The Ministry according to Mr. Afena urged everyone to pay for the energy consumed so that ECG and NEDCo provide essential services to consumers.
