EC urged to disarm agitation using IPAC – Agyinasare

The Inter-Party Advisory Committee, (IPAC) made up of political parties and the EC should work together to address growing tensions before, during, and after the 2024 general elections, he said.

“As we prepare for the 2024 general elections, all parties must strive for peace in the country. No matter the situation we are in, we can choose our leaders through voting and not bullets. The NDC is the party that brought the country to democracy and has a responsibility to protect it.

“The Electoral Commission should also do well to reduce tension using IPAC. Only the people can do that. IPAC has been helpful for many years and therefore should be utilized. The EC should work to bring together the stakeholders to ensure peace and not destroy it. EC should try everything possible to be transparent so that the announced winners and losers will be recognized by all.

Speaking on corruption, Charles Agyinasare pointed out that the country’s wealth has been used to finance some political campaigns, thus depressing the economy.

He also charged the opposition National Democratic Party (NDC) to ensure that if elected in the 2024 polls, the public purse would be protected.

“Obviously the biggest enemy of this country is corruption, but looking at the way political parties finance their activities and campaigns, our opinion will not [win the] war [against] corruption at any time. The political business that finances politicians ends up hijacking the nation’s wealth. Politicians must help us fight this because our nation is moving too fast, and we cannot continue in this direction,”

He demanded the Electoral Commission to be transparent in all its efforts, which is important come the 2024 general polls.
