Celtic restored their nine-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership after second-half goals from Jota and Aaron Mooy gave them a 2-0 win at Dundee United.

It was an important victory for Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou who won his 50th Scottish Premiership game in just 61 games.

The Hoops won 9-0 on their last visit to Tannadice at the end of August but were frustrated until the 51st minute when Jota headed in from a narrow angle to open the scoring.

Celtic made the breakthrough early in the second half when Jota headed in from close range

Mooy then doubled his lead from the penalty spot just five minutes after United defender Kieran Freeman had been tackled in the area following a VAR review.

Celtic are now unbeaten in the league since mid-September and also have a goal difference that is 23 better than second-placed Rangers.

Dundee United, in 10th place and just above Ross County and Kilmarnock on goal difference.

Dundee United away for Kilmarnock in the next Scottish Premiership match on February 1, when Celtic host Livingston on the same night.

Both games kick-off at 7.45pm.
